Marketing with Instagram
This weeks reading installment is about social media marketing with Instagram. This platform is great for B2C connections with 84% of users saying that they want to find new brands through using this platform and 60% of users claiming that they have found a new brand through using Instagram. These numbers prove important and effective as about 72% of Instagram users have claimed to have purchased a product they first saw on the site. Instagram is a platform used by a majority of businesses, as roughly 71% of businesses have an active Instagram profile.
Instagram is an effective platform for businesses to use for marketing as they offer the ability to hyperlink posts and customize your profile with links to contact information, new deals or simply to the company's website. This customization allows full control of what a company wants its potential consumers to see immediately, all in just one or two clicks. Although Instagram is dominated demographically by a younger audience, it still has great reach with over 1 billion accounts using this platform each month.
Instagram also offers "Instagram for Business", a side of their site that allows brands to view real-time metrics for posts, including impressions, reach and engagements. Instagram even allows businesses to break these metrics down by gender, age range, location, and days and times the users are most active on Instagram. These metrics provide significant help to brands that are trying to reach a specific market by allowing them to see if they are reaching them, who they may be reaching instead and maybe if they should reposition their brand for new audiences or to attract the initial audience they were after. Instagram uses algorithms along with a fairly new feature, "Instagram Shops", to help businesses target their consumers more directly as well as at the times they may be more likely to interact with a post.
Instagram offers a plethora of business tools that help brands, small or large, reach the people they most want to and expand the awareness of their brand through the great reach of potential consumers that they have access to across their platform.
