Carson's Week in Review: Week 11
Howdy friends!
As is the theme of these blogs, this last week was focused on lacrosse! Not much happened in the realm of school since our last post, and to be quite honest, I didn't get up to much outside of lacrosse practice this week. Last week I talked about my great dislike for Mount Union and how we dominated them on the lacrosse field and we've played two games since then, one home game against Wilmington College and one away game at Muskingum University.
We'll stick with chronological order for this one as we played Wilmington last Wednesday night at home and there really isn't much to talk about in that one. Wilmington is a small program that is really trying their hardest to rebuild and stay in competition so we honestly respect them very much for showing up and even playing. For reference, in a lacrosse game each team fields a team of 10 players at a time and substitute on the fly. Our team has about 50 players on our roster and in a typical, competitive game we probably rotate through about 25 players depending on the situation in the game. Wilmington had 13 active players on their roster, leaving them with only 3 players to substitute in and out of the game. To nobody's surprise, we dominated them in every part of the game, beating them 23-0 and everyone on the team got to get in the game for while.
We moved on from this big win against Wilmington and got ready to play Muskingum University on Saturday. We arrived a few hours early as usual but the energy didn't seem there amongst the guys. We know Muskingum is a team that we should beat, but I was a little upset that the guys didn't seem completely excited for the opportunity to play another game. We got off to a rather slow start and the game was close after the first half, 8-4. We finally turned it on and played closer to our true potential in the second half, although Muskingum never gave up, we are just the better team and it unfortunately took an entire first half to start to play like it. At the end of the game we finished on top 18-6 and we were excited to win, but I know we could have played better and I think that's what we need to focus on moving forward, playing a full game of lacrosse at our highest level no matter the opponent.
After last week we moved to 7-2 overall on the season and 3-0 in conference play. We have a big game at Otterbein University tonight and then play Marietta on Saturday and if we're able to win both of these we should basically lock up a top seed in the conference tournament for this year! Check back in next week to find out how we did!
Thanks for reading!
