Let's Learn: Social Media Campaigns!

This week we read about and studied social media campaigns! The goal of a social media campaign is to connect all aspects of marketing and advertising to create the best possible sales and brand awareness outcome for our brand or company. When considering social media campaigns, there are a lot of different aspects that goes into a successful plan. From advertising and personal selling to events and public relations, each piece of this puzzle need to come together and communicate with each other to create our big picture plan. This is what we call Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC). The goal of IMC is to get each individual piece to "communicate" with each other and build off each piece as it is laid out.     In order to create the best outcomes, marketers often follow the AIDA model: Grab their Attention , Build their Interest , Create the Desire  and Persuade them to take Action. Following this model allows brands to define their goals and find ways of creating a s

Carson's Week in Review: Week 13

Howdy readers!     It's time for your weekly ONU Men's lacrosse update! Last week we had the opportunity to play John Carroll University up in Cleveland. This was a big opportunity for our program as we have never beaten them in school history and they have pretty much dominated the OAC for the last 5 years, winning the conference championship each of those years. We believed we had a real shot at taking them down this year as we have potentially the most talented roster in team history and have played in some big time games this season. We drove up to Cleveland the night before the game, Thursday, and stayed in the local Embassy Suites hotel, which was incredibly nice. We had pizza with the team and had some downtime to hangout and do some team bonding which was also a blast.           In the morning it was time to get ready and take the 30 minute bus trip from the hotel to JCU's campus and prep for the game ahead. We arrived two hours prior to the game, as usual, and the

Carson's Week in Review: Week 12

Howdy readers!     I bet you couldn't guess what we're talking about in this week's edition! That's right, we're going to be talking about lacrosse! Last week we had two games, one Wednesday and one Saturday. Wednesday's event required us to travel all the way down to Columbus to face Otterbein University, another team we don't get along with very well. After practicing Monday and Tuesday and setting out our game plan, we took the quick bus ride down to Otterbein, in the rain, and got ready to play. The rain persisted lightly throughout the entirety of warm-ups, but when it came to game time its like the sky understood it was time to stop and the rain disappeared. The first quarter was solid and we took an early lead but a sloppy second quarter saw that lead disappear as Otterbein actually took a one goal lead going into halftime. We came out strong in the second half and won the third quarter 4-0, giving us the lead back at 11-8 by the end of the quarter.

The Podcast!

Howdy readers!      This week we will not be discussing the chapter read in our book, but discussing the podcast I recorded this past week with my Dad to discuss LinkedIn and how he has used the platform in the past and present of his professional career!      I prefer my podcasts to be free-flowing and allow them to build on themselves, however for this occasion I prepared a few questions to ask my interviewee. The questions I began with are as followed:           - How have you used LinkedIn in the past to market yourself when looking for a new position or when looking for a new employee.     - How do you currently use LinkedIn within your present role to market yourself, your team or your product?      From these questions we discussed the different ways LinkedIn can be used at the different stages of a persons career, from looking to a job to being in a position where you are looking to hire others. We also discussed how frequently a professional uses LinkedIn in a typical day as w

Carson's Week in Review: Week 11

Howdy friends!     As is the theme of these blogs, this last week was focused on lacrosse! Not much happened in the realm of school since our last post, and to be quite honest, I didn't get up to much outside of lacrosse practice this week. Last week I talked about my great dislike for Mount Union and how we dominated them on the lacrosse field and we've played two games since then, one home game against Wilmington College and one away game at Muskingum University.     We'll stick with chronological order for this one as we played Wilmington last Wednesday night at home and there really isn't much to talk about in that one. Wilmington is a small program that is really trying their hardest to rebuild and stay in competition so we honestly respect them very much for showing up and even playing. For reference, in a lacrosse game each team fields a team of 10 players at a time and substitute on the fly. Our team has about 50 players on our roster and in a typical, competit

Chapter Review: Marketing with TikTok

Howdy readers!     This week we are learning about marketing with TikTok! For those of you who have not experienced this social media platform, TikTok is a short video sharing platform that has taken the world by storm over the last two years following it being the most downloaded app of 2020. TikTok boasts a monthly active user count of 689 million and ranks 7th among all social media platforms. TikTok's users fall mostly within the 13-24 year-old age bracket, representing 69 percent of the population. TikTok is used more by females than males as there is a 60 40 split in percentages, respectively. TikTok is available in 155 countries, 75 languages and users spend an average of 52 minutes per day on the app.       While TikTok is mostly user generated content, brands have found significant success in leveraging the platform to grow their business. Over 1,000 major brands are already using the app and have found an average engagement rate of 9 percent on their posts. When you consi
